1. Who we are
Cleener (the "app", "we", "us", "our") is owned and operated by Enikő Czigler, based in Hungary. For the purposes of EU data protection law, Enikő Czigler is the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use Cleener.

2. What data we collect
We collect only what we need to make the app work and improve it. Specifically:
Data you provide directly
- Photos of your rooms — these are the photos you upload so the app can generate a cleaning plan.
- Time preferences — the time window you select for each cleaning session (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2+ hours).
- Optional after-photos — if you choose to take a "finished" photo on the completion screen.
- Any feedback or support messages you send us.
Data collected automatically
- Device information — operating system, device model, app version, language, region.
- Usage information — which features you use, how long sessions last, whether you complete a plan, errors and crashes.
- App store identifiers — provided by Apple and Google for the purposes of subscription management and analytics.
Subscription and payment data
All payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your credit card details. We only receive a confirmation that your subscription is active.
3. How we handle your photos
In short
Your photos are used to generate your cleaning plan and then handled with care. We do not sell them, share them with advertisers, or use them to train AI models without your explicit consent.
When you upload a photo, the following happens:
- The photo is sent securely (encrypted in transit) to our processing infrastructure.
- An AI vision model analyzes the photo to identify rooms, surfaces, and items relevant to cleaning.
- The result of that analysis (a cleaning plan) is returned to your device.
- The original photo is deleted from our servers shortly after processing, unless you have opted into longer storage for a specific feature (such as before/after comparison).
We do not use your photos to identify you, recognize faces, or extract data unrelated to cleaning. We do not share your photos with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes.
4. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Generate cleaning plans based on your photos and selected time window.
- Operate the app's core features, including the timer, task progression, and tips.
- Manage your subscription and provide customer support.
- Improve the app — fix bugs, understand which features are useful, optimize the AI's plan quality.
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations.
5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — for processing your photos, time preferences, and subscription data, since these are necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for analytics, app improvement, and security. We balance these interests against your rights, and you can object at any time.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) — for any optional features that explicitly ask for your permission, such as longer photo storage or marketing emails.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR) — where we must keep records to comply with tax, accounting, or other legal duties.
6. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who help us operate Cleener, and only to the extent necessary. Categories include:
- Cloud hosting providers — to run our backend and process photos.
- AI model providers — to generate cleaning plans from photos. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements and do not use your photos to train their models.
- Apple and Google — to manage subscriptions and app distribution.
- Analytics providers — to understand aggregate usage. Where possible, this data is pseudonymized.
- Crash and error reporting providers — to detect and fix bugs.
We will never sell your personal data. We may disclose data if legally required (for example, in response to a valid court order) or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
7. International data transfers
Some of the service providers we use are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. When we transfer your data outside the EEA, we use safeguards approved under GDPR — typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — to ensure your data continues to be protected.
8. Data retention
- Photos: deleted shortly after processing, unless explicitly retained for a feature you opted into.
- Cleaning plan results: stored on your device. We do not keep a long-term server-side copy unless you have an account that syncs across devices.
- Subscription records: kept for as long as required by tax and accounting law (typically up to 8 years in Hungary).
- Support messages: kept for up to 2 years after the last contact.
- Analytics data: aggregated and retained for up to 24 months.
9. Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data, subject to legal exceptions.
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — for any processing based on consent, at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Hungary, this is the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH).

10. Children's privacy
Cleener is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
If you are between 13 and 16 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your country), please use Cleener only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
11. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is perfectly secure. If we ever become aware of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of Cleener after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
